What is a life coach?

The term ‘coach’ literally comes from the type of vehicle that was tethered to the back of horses and moved a person from A to B.  A life coach, therefore, moves you from where you are today, your current reality (A) with your current problems, to where you want to be, to your desired reality (B) where you have your problems solved.  

A life coach will teach you the skills to get clear on what’s truly important to you and how to achieve it. The life coach will look for your unique gifts, talents, and passions that are meant to be expressed in the world and support you living a fulfilling and meaningful life.

By working with a life coach, you'll gain valuable insight into why you think and behave the way you do, which can help you overcome obstacles that are preventing you from reaching your full potential.

What does a life coach do?

One of the main tasks life coaches tackle with their clients is to help them create purpose and structure in their lives. This helps the client to understand where they are going so that they can concentrate their energy in a way that targets specific goals related to the purpose of coaching. Our main goal is to help the client realise their full potential - whatever that may be.

It is not about running away from problems or creating a rose-tinted picture of life, but it is about finding solutions to current problems, discovering and unfolding the gifts that we all have inside us, and building a solid foundation upon which to build successful lives.

A friend of mine recommended Sonya to me, as someone who might be able to help me with some emotional obstacles that were frustrating my personal and work life. In the initial consultation we discussed the challenges I was dealing with and worked out a plan of priority areas to address. During the subsequent weekly sessions we progressed through the plan 'clearing' each area as we went. After six sessions I have been able to move these problem areas, and a few additional ones, into a clearer and more manageable place.
